Classify statements

# Classify statements

This page lets you review imported transactions, accept or correct suggestions, and save their classification.

## Open a statement

Choose an Account and Statement. Enable **Include completed statements** to revisit finished work. **Only unfinished items** focuses the table on rows still needing classification.

The suggested business supplies pending business suggestions. Saving a statement default does not change saved row assignments. **Require manual review for this statement** prevents rules from automatically committing it.

## Classify a transaction

Choose its Use: **Personal**, **Business**, **Personal + business**, or **Unspecified**. Business requires a business. Personal + business also requires a business share greater than 0% and less than 100%.

Open Category to see the active tree with branches initially collapsed. Click an arrow to expand a branch; click its name to select it. Parents and children are both selectable. The selected label shows the full path. Category selection leaves Use unchanged.

Click outside the chooser or press Escape to close it. **Choose…** clears the field when saved. An inactive category already assigned remains displayed, even though it is unavailable for a new assignment.

Use and Category must both be specified for a row to be complete, with the required business details. Selecting a broad parent is sufficient; you are not required to select a leaf. Unspecified remains unfinished.

## Save and review

**Save classifications** saves populated entries and edits across the loaded statement, including rows hidden by the unfinished filter. Partial classifications can be saved and remain unfinished.

The page identifies suggestions, incomplete saves, complete rows and unsaved edits. Hover a row or open its ⋯ menu for status. **Reload statement** retrieves the stored state; do not use it to preserve unsaved edits.

If another session changes a row or statement defaults after loading, saving is rejected. Reload and review the current values before editing again.

Open **Rules**, or a row's rule action, to work with [classification rules](rules.md).
